At Balboa Navy Medical Center, I did rotations through Med/Surg, ICU, ED, OR, Orthopedic, and Telemetry. During the rotations, I took on one patient every week with a different diagnosis. I administered medications as ordered; I would also assist with the other 4 patients when possible. I administered many IVPB, IVP, and oral medications. I assisted with IV starts. I performed bladder scans, 12- -lead EKGs, and inserted a Foley catheter.

At Kaiser, I am fully caring for 3 patients giving medications, providing thorough education, IV starts, foley starts, and continuously reading EKG readings. This rotation has been heavily focused on cardiac illnesses and more acute patients dealing with HFrEF having a CHF exacerbation.

I was actively involved in the care of 3 patients in the medical-surgical unit. I was responsible for the full care of my 3 patients which included giving medications, doing wound care, full head-to-toe assessments, regular rounds, tracking I & O, and providing education. I also had a chance to do rotations in ER and ICU. In the ER, I was actively involved with the care of the clients. I placed a Foley catheter, provided education for Spanish-speaking clients, and did routine nursing duties. In the ICU, I was also involved in medications, wound care, and assisted with IV pumps with a very critically ill patient. This rotation set up a great foundation for being able to manage the heavier workload. I look forward to the next critical care rotations.

I worked with many clients with varying mental health issues. I provided a therapeutic environment and talked many clients through their difficult times. I was involved in CBT groups, relaxation/crisis workshops and in the treatment teams.

I was able to have my Pediatric rotation at Kaiser taking care of children from 4-12. I administered medications, assisted with care, and worked with my clinical preceptor on the care of the children. I also had an OB rotation at Kaiser which included assisting in delivery, doing assessments, administering medications to newborns, and observing an emergency C-section and recovery.

I went through rotations through medical surgical, rehab, OR, ICU, and wound care. During this rotation, I took care of multiple patients that were critically ill. I discovered a patient that was going into shock due to a perforated intestine. After advancing the care, I then provided care for her in the ICU and in wound care using the wound vac. I administered many medications with the nurses, EKGs, placed IVs, and a foley catheter.
