Nursing philosophy: I believe that all patients deserve to be treated with respect regardless of their circumstances no matter where they come from nor how they got to where they're at. I will do my utmost to care for patients that I am assigned to as they are my responsibility. Career goals & objectives: I hope to successfully finish my ADN program in December and apply to work at a med-surge unit . I wish to gain a broad spectrum of experience in caring for patients with different conditions. While in school, I've been working as a CNA at Sharp Healthcare and home health aide to a client for over 3.5 years. I plan to continue my education online and obtain a BSN degree while working.

Tri-City Medical Center - Aug 2023 - Dec 2023 Oceanside, California Telemetry (192 Hours) Clinical rotation at telemetry units, cath lab, ER, and ICU at Tri-City Medical Center. Observed patients with STEMI receiving PCI at cath lab and cared for patients with status epilepticus and other conditions at telemetry units. Performed head-to-toe, med pass, and pt education for my clients. Will be done in December.
Scripps Green Hospital - Jan 2023 - May 2023 La Jolla, California Telemetry (192 Hours) Was at a telemetry unit the whole semester to shadow nurses on the floor learning their daily routine including receiving hand-off reports, checking up on patients, medication administration, and charting. Learned how to look up medications on our own and when to contact provider for further clarification. Was able to observe EEG, thoracentesis, paracentesis, MRI, and other procedures. Performed med pass, head-to-toe assessment, wound care, IV insertion, and patient education. Familiarized with different equipment at Scripps such as the Braun IV pump and the vital machine. Became more familiar and comfortable with handling Epic application.
Palomar Medical Center CSU - Jan 2023 - May 2023 Escondido, California Mental Health (72 Hours) Performed mini-MSE and asked clients what brought them to the crisis stabilization unit and their treatment goals. Interviewed a client each week and filled out a psyche health worksheet assigning appropriate nursing diagnoses for the client. Therapeutic communication techniques learned and utilized.
Balboa Naval Medical Center - Oct 2022 - Dec 2022 San Diego, CA Mother Baby (96 Hours) Done 96 hours total at the Mother and Baby Department and Pediatrics Unit at Balboa Naval Medical Center. Was at labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn units for the maternal and newborn portion of the course and at an outpatient pediatrics unit. Followed nurses and performed assessment on the postpartum mother and the newborn. Observed the nurses use the onsite immunization testing equipment and their daily routine at the outpatient pediatrics unit.
Balboa Naval Medical Center - Aug 2022 - Oct 2022 San Diego, California Medical-Surgical (120 Hours) Done clinical rotation at a med-surge unit and an ER unit at Balboa Naval Medical Center. Performed med pass, IV Push, IV piggy back, EKG and head-to-toe assessment under RN supervision. Finished a total of three rotations at med-surge units and four rotations at specialty units (Pre-Op, MOR, ER, and ICU).
Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center - Apr 2022 - May 2022 San Diego, California Medical-Surgical (96 Hours) Done 8 clinical rotations at a med-surge unit (5N) at Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center. Shadowed nurses and learned the daily tasks of an RN at a med-surge unit. Provided care to primary patients including coming up with care plans and following up with patient education. Performed med pass, sub-Q injections, and glucose checks under RN supervision.
